THE FACE BEHIND THE ART
My name is Gianna Lucia, I’m an artist who creates in a diverse range of styles, but I tend to stay in an abstract style which often includes faces, eyes, bodies and feminine characters. I get my inspiration from the world around me, mainly the people around me; I’m a people watcher. I love working with faces and eyes because no matter what there’s someone watching you, someone around, and each person is their own unique individual. I think eyes really bring my paintings to life, they add this certain touch of personality. I adore working with female body because of how beautiful and pure I believe the female body is. Additionally, I’m really into making my representations of people non-symmetrical, because in reality nothing’s perfect and i don’t want my art to be “perfect.” I believe in empowering women through their bodies. I believe we are over-sexualized creatures, and females are always living up to this expectation of being “perfect.” I hope that by making my characters imperfect, I can show that there’s beauty even outside of the things we’re often told are beautiful by society writ large.
